At the beginning of the “shelter in place order” in 2020 God put the burden on the hearts of Fight the Hate Leaders to address food security during the pandemic. The truth is we didn’t really know how we were going to do it , but we knew why but we must do it. We trusted God for His guidance and moved forward in faith. We prayed and God gave us the blue print and 1 year ago today on APRIL 16, 2020, 6, Seventh-day Adventist churches located across 5 Bay Area cities, committed to partnering with FTH to distribute free groceries to families in their schools, churches and communities. We began by raising money, purchasing, then distributing free groceries. However as the needs across the 5 cities grew, we knew we couldn’t sustain this model, as we were getting more and more emails from families desperate for food. After more prayer God showed up just in time . In the most unlikely ways I was introduced to incredible people ( Madhu ) who connected me to Danari and Yves at HUNGER AT HOME of San Jose and (Malia, from Reach Potential Movement) who introduced me to Sam from RIVER OF LIFE FOUNDATION and Uphal from SEWA the people at these food distribution organizations went above and beyond the call of duty to support our ministry. We were then able to receive large donations of high quality food that helped to bring our shopping bill down. However the demands for food kept increasing at all the distribution sites. Which made it difficult to to give the families in schools, churches and communities more resources .
In early November 2020, during the surging number of Covid-19 cases, we got the devastating news that one of our major investors said that they would no longer be able to give financial support . LESS THAN 24 HOUR AFTER the news I received a call from Malia (RPM) who is also my prayer and Ministry partner, asking if we were interested in partnering to receive a weekly donation 24 pallets of USDA farmers to Families food boxes. This supernatural intervention was the game changer. This helped FTH Ministry moved to the next phase of Gods plan.
With the help of John Schroer from Adventist Health, we were able to secure a 53ft refrigeration unit. Pastor Brain Leong's congregation from Lords Grace Church in Mountain View donated 3 pallets jacks and Matt from El Dorado Forklift in San Mateo, gave us a forklift to use until we can raise the money to pay for it), that coupled with the support from The City of Mountain View , Mountain View CSA, Google and a number of other organizations who donate and or volunteer, God has positioned us to do great things for His glory.
Time and time again through this last year God showed up just when the money or resources ran out. He made a way out of no way. He connected us to new people, and new organizations that helped us carry out His plan.
